Last year I did Samuel Applebaum’s arrangement of Leroy Anderson’s Jazz Pizzicato with my middle school orchestra. I wanted to demonstrate to my students that I still practice and that putting in the work yields results. So I figured I try playing the piece on my bass guitar. This took A LOT of practice for me. It did not come easy. But it was a lot of fun. As I kid I started playing jazz and rock before moving into the classical world so I infused my love of the heavier stuff into my arrangement.
